[bookport] Is their a way to tell the bookport to ignore last file?

I have some real bad spots on a card I am using and the last file opened is
bad. This means that everytime I do a reset and restore defaults and try to
move to another file or folder, I lock up again. I have done a chkdsk /r on
the card and it just quits after 17%.
Any ideas, and why would a card go bad like this; it's the same card I had
problems with last week but thought reformatting it would fix it. Is it most
likely the card???
