[bookport] Formatting New Card

APH Staff,
What are the advantages of formatting a new card with the Book Port format
command?  I have used a 1 GB factory formatted card for several months
without a problem.  My new card seems to be working fine too.  I don't mind
formatting the new card though if it will help reliability.
