Rusty: I wouldn't be derfragging; it will hang. You can use chkdsk or Windows XP Error Checking to check/fix file system errors on the card. I think that is your next step. Rob Meredith >>> rusty.perez@xxxxxxxxx 05/24/06 11:48AM >>> Hi Rob and others who may read this. I have checked my flash card for the files mentioned below. For the book in question, all three files are there! They seem to be the correct size, and they say they were created and modified on or about when I put them on there. Any idea why bookport will not open the book? Also, on a related matter, is it possible to fix the file system on a card, defrag or what ever? Thanks! We have seen a few situations where user's lost the ._DD file for a book, but the ._IX file was in tact. Of course we haven't gotten this to happen here and have know idea how it occurred. If you decide to look, remember to show hidden files, since ._IX files are hidden files. I realise the file names are not the title of the book; figuring out which files belong to which book is a bit of a challenge. Rob Meredith >>> rusty.perez@xxxxxxxxx 05/22/06 06:12PM >>> Hi folks, I have a daisy book on my bookport for a class which I teach. I have been using this particular file for about sixteen weeks with no trouble. It is on a compact flash card which holds many other things1 txt books1 podcasts. I do not generally use this card for anything else, but, occasionally I will put a file on it to be read with my ubrailleunote. My daisy books are in a directory of their own. The card is not full. Here's my problem. Today I attempted to read from this particular book. I got an error saying, "application file IO error" There are other daisy books in the same directory. Two of them, significantly smaller books, are playable. Another, a large book, gives me a slightly different error, "error opening file data file IO error" Other mp3 files play. The only thing which I can think of is that I transferred a book from my pc recently using k1000. If any one has any ideas, please let me know. This particular file is marked up, and it is nearly 700 pages long so transfering it again would be a huge bummer. Thanks Rusty
