See later message for probable explanation. The file that's on the Book Port 
CD almost certainly is the Project Gutenberg version with all of the Project 
Gutenberg material at the beginning of the file stripped off.

I've had problems like that, leading me to believe something must be wrong
with the original file or some of its less visible protocols.  Fortunately,
and this won't fix your problem, Project Gutenberg has that file, and it's
no doubt where our copy came from.  Ever browse their site?  Seems like I
read that they now have something like twenty thousand public domain works,
and these are increasing by something like a hundred titles a week.  I have
about four thousand titles from them and go slumming every week for more.
I'm insatiable, or something like that.
