Hi, all. Well, I'm back on the list and I have some interesting information
to pass along to all of us bookport users.

I was out of town and returned on FRiday and discovered that as mentioned a
while back that there were new updates for the software and firmware. I
downloaded and installed the bookport transfer update and installed it and
things went well. I then attempted to download and install the firmware and
that's when things became interesting.

No matter how many times I tried, I could not get the firmware to update to
the bookport despite the fact that the announcement that the firmware had
been successfully sent to bookport. The bookport's announcements kept
getting cut off so it did not appear that the unit was receiving the update.
The bookport itself behaved erratically saying things like "announcements
missing, book mark position error, the sleep timer has reached book port
user's manual, etc., etc.

I went and bought new batteries and installed them and tried to download the
firmware again and bingo! The book port began functioning normally.

You need to know that my battery level was fluctuating between 35% and 21%.
Book port gave no message to replace the batteries. I am certainly glad
that I didn't have to send the unit back to APH for repair. Thanks.
