Steve:

you mentioned ASCII 12, which is a control-l as a possible solution. I
notice in Kurzweil there are plenty of ASCII  formats, but none exactly as
you have referred to it. Some are for Smart Windows, Plain for Windows, for
PC and on and on.   Is there anoather generic name for ASCII 12?
