Hi, A PACMate Omni is the newest version of the PACMate software and hardware. I bought a used PACMate, but I have to send it in to Freedom Scientific to obtain the upgrade to PACMate Omni, which is costing $700 additional. It seems to be both a hardware and software upgrade. It uses Windows Mobile, version 6.0, which is also used in personal digital assistants used by sighted folks, so it is also compatible with Windows software on a PC. - Jackie McCraw ----- Original Message ----- From: Sharon Lash To: bookcourier@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, June 29, 2008 3:05 PM Subject: [bookcourier] Re: Cryin' Lovin' and Leavin What is an Omni? Never heard of it. What company makes it? ----- Original Message ----- From: Jackie M. I believe the PACMate Omni uses SD cards. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. - Jackie McCraw ----- Original Message ----- From: Sharon Lash To: bc Sent: Wednesday, June 25, 2008 6:50 AM Subject: [bookcourier] Cryin' Lovin' and Leavin I'm cryin' 'cause we're not getting another upgrade and it could be the end of the BookCourier. I'm lovin' my BookCourier, of course. I'm leavin' to look for another possibile accessible book/music reader. I belong to several lists and also work, so I can't keep up with the emails. When I read these emails about the end of the BookCourier, I was really disappointed. I was looking forward to a new and improved one. I really love and value the BookCourier. I hated the transfer tool though. I will use mine until I can't anymore. One question I have, however. What to do with all my flash cards? Are there any other machines out there I can use them on? I guess I'll remain on this list in case something comes up. I can dream, can't I? Thanks to all for your help and support.
