One issue with Jim's "Birds don't eat cows" block is that it melts
rapidly in warm weather. I still have some in my frig, but it is only
good in winter. Melted fat is not good for feathers of birds. How does
peanut butter hold up in warm weather? I am imagining that it starts to
drip too.
I don't know enough about whether there is any palm oil production that
is socially responsible but will try reading up on it. I have seen Palm
plantations in Colombia which our guides said had replaced good habitat.
Whether there is any good palm production is something I don't know
enough about and I generally read labels to avoid palm oil. Missed that
on Jim's blocks. Judy, jmeredit@xxxxxxxxxxx

* WHERE IS YOUR PALM SHORTENING FROM? We are very aware of the environmental
destruction the palm industry is currently causing our planet. We source all
of our palm shortening from certified sustainable and organic sources. Our
two sources are:
SPECTRUM SHORTENING (product of columbia)-

PALMFRUIT (product of Brazil)-

We are always searching for a better alternative to palm shortening to use
in our suet and when we find a suitable one will make a switch, until then
you can be assured we will source our shortening as responsibly as we
possibly can!
