Hope this isn't premature, but word is that ringleaders Ammon Bundy,
Ryan Bundy, and Ryan Payne were all arrested tonight while trying to
travel north on Hwy 395 to spread their message to Grant County. LaVoy
Finicum (the one supposed rancher in their midst) is reported to have
been shot dead in the altercation.
Several others have been arrested and will be facing federal felony
charges.
Having frequently traveled that route, and having made that turn from
Hwy 20 onto Hwy 395 east of Burns on my way traveling between the Hart
Mountain CBC and the Antone CBC in mid-winter in the dark of night, many
times, I can visualize that scene all too well.
My main hope right now is for peace for the peaceful residents of Harney
County, and full prosecution for the mostly out-of-state agitators who
deserve it.
The good folks of Harney County are going to need our support, so let's
step forward and give it to them. There's still time to register for the
John Scharff Waterfowl Festival.
