Member of the Month
Oregon BHA Member Joe Metzler
Joe Metzler, a retired helicopter rescue swimmer with the U.S. Coast
Guard, is recognized as BHA's Member of the Month for his ongoing
efforts to keep Oregon's Elliott State Forest publicly accessible. Joe
grew up hunting and fishing on the Elliott and has emerged as one of the
Elliott's strongest advocates, making presentations, authoring op-eds
and letters to the editor, submitting testimony at land board meetings,
and having one-on-one discussions with key decision makers on the issue.
Joe will represent Oregon BHA again in April by testifying at the next
state land board meeting, where a final decision will be made on the
sale of the 82,500-acre Elliott State Forest. Check out Joe's testimony
at the last land board meeting and prepare to be impressed. Thanks for
