Alan Contreras sent me and a few others this message. My membership /donation
represents 1/500th of this total. I challenge each of us to at least join the
Friends group as basic members ($25 as I recall). Tim Blount, a friend, birder
and long-time Harney resident is the Executive Director. Tim is currently
laying low in the Portland area. Let's get him home and back to work with
resources to work wth.

Dear Friends:
This is not quite public yet, but donations to the nonprofit support group
Friends of Malheur in the past two weeks have passed $25,000 and are still
pouring in from all over the U.S. and as far away as France. I thought you’d
enjoy hearing that.
I think there will some public noise about it soon so the Bundys can have it
for dinner along with their rat sandwiches.
This money is available to improve public access to the refuge and can of
course be used to rectify any damage that the feds don’t fix.
It’s not the light at the end of the tunnel but it’s a fairly robust candle,
and these days candles help.
I’m told that there will be an Audubon “field trip” staging out of Bend going
to the HQ gates on Saturday. I heard that second-hand and have no details.
