According to the papers Burns is full of out of town peace officers. It would
interesting to know how many motel rooms they are currently renting. Of
course potential confrontations are now rife on a small scale. Every time a
federal employee goes to the store they may be confronted. When they are at
home strangers park outside and idle the engine of their ork-mobiles. In the
meantime, deputies from other counties are getting paid to do nothing.
Presumably overtime and then some since they are away from home.

I swear I heard something on OPB/NPR this morning about law enforcement
being beefed up, in preparation for a potential confrontation. I can't find
the specific report now. Did anyone else hear that?
