Have been going through a little bit of gaming withdrawal as of late,
maybe more so since it is Gaming Night Thursday at the Bunker and can’t game.
Yesterday I sent an email to a fellow Gamer and friend of mine in Rome,
Maurizio Bragaglia. He is a big SYW fan as well as Colonial and American Civil
War.
Some of you may have met him as he has frequented the SYW Convention in
Indiana.
Just got back his response and thought I’d share it. As you can see,
they are going through much of the same.
It must be a little tougher for him and his wife as their adult
daughters both live in London where he worked for many years.

I'm glad you and Carla are well , and exercising!
All is (mostly) well in Rome.
Casualties so far here have been fairly light compared to N.Italy or Madrid.
Lots of time on our hands and much reading of books.
Apart from people who work in essential areas/services everybody else has to
stay home and can get out only to buy food, medicines etc.
You can take a walk but only in a mile radius from your place.
No more than 2 people together.
Roadblocks where if you are driving they ask you where are you exactly going
and coming from.
London is OK for the moment, but the locals have been way too slow in my view
in enacting measures.
Desperate for some gaming I have even started to play boardgames through online
modules like Vassal.
We have no idea when this will be over, I guess at least another month.
Foodwise the situation is good, logistics are holding.
You just need to queue outside supermarkets for up to 1/2 hour as only a few
customers at the time are allowed.
I sincerely hope you get through this unscathed, this can be kept under control
only if people behave.
Also, do not trust the statistics.
Here they try to catch all the deaths by Covid, but they recognize a lot of
people die at home after a brief illness and are not counted; the true number
of deaths could easily be 4 or 5 times the official one.
The good news are that counting a lot of asymptomatic people, the death rate is
"only" 1%.
This with a first class national health service.
Try not to get out too much if it means meeting other people.
