Makes sense, but don't want to consider how much extra petrol would be for 20
days per month for this car as well...<smile>

Anyway, have got 'til tomorrow morning to make up my mind/decide, so let's
see...

Stay well

  Hi Jake,

I have to say this sounds like an excellent offer to me. R2000 / month is
not that much to pay for transport. I mean, its money, obviously, but my
transport is around R1000 a month anyway. And lots of other people pay a lot
more - e.g. if they drive to pta from jhb or whatever.

It also sounds as though this might well be an arrangement that could be
lasting and fairly reliable, assuming that it works for you. And I agree about
it being a confidence builder for yr employer. ...smile.

  Anyway, that's my 2c.

Ok, aside from a couple of possible, somewhat informal arrangements with
friends where 2 people are offering to make adaptations to their routines a bit
to try help with my transport requirements - not sure that either of these
would be perfect since it would partly require them to work around parts of
their own routines, which would maybe make it harder to make this last
permanently/consistently as such - my employer actually phoned me this
afternoon and told me their one driver has offered to use the informal taxi
system to come to my place in the morning, and we'd then use my car to get to
the office, and my car would stay parked there during day, and in
evening/afternoon, we'd use it to come back here again, and the driver would
then again use the taxi system to get home himself - so my car would still be
here at night, in my own garage, etc. etc.

Only real issues is the direct cost of this would be basically R2000 for
the driver per month, as well as then, obviously, petrol costs, maintenance
costs for the car, etc., and I'd first have to make sure it was mechanically
sound enough to be used on a normal, daily, commuting basis, whereas it
currently only really gets used occasionally for either going out, to the
shops, or for longer trips down to coast etc.

    Thoughts/opinions on this option?

I haven't heard back from soccerMom.co.za via email as of yet, and might
still phone them, just in case, but I sort of need to make up my mind whether
or not to at least try this arrangement for now, by tomorrow morning.

Suppose, at least this would be a sort of confidence builder for my
employer etc., if that makes sense, and would also definitely make the driver
sign something like a responsibility agreement, in that I wouldn't hold him
responsible if something went wrong, unless he'd specifically caused it, in
which case, then definitely.

    Like said, thoughts?
