Darran Zenger was recently awarded the Hadley School for the Blind's Richard
Kinney Challenge of Living Award. Zenger, a father of three, is deaf and has
experienced failing vision for many years due to Usher's syndrome. However, he
graduated college with a major in psychology and is taking braille courses
through the Hadley School. His instructor nominated him for his positive
attitude despite the many challenges he faces.

Once his proficiency in braille is stronger, Zenger hopes to enroll in a Ph.D.
program in counseling psychology. He wants to work with people who are deaf, so
they can speak without an interpreter in counseling sessions.
