Oliver's judo medal

A teenager has scooped a gold medal in the prestigious Special Olympics.

Oliver Everest, 14, travelled to China to compete in the judo event.

It was the first time that Oliver, of Hastings Road, Battle, had entered the
Special Olympics.

The Lindfield School pupil said, "It's taken over my life. It was a lovely
experience and it felt really good."

Oliver, who is visually impaired, started judo five years ago and belongs to
Westerleigh Judokwai which trains at Claverham Community College. He is
grateful to his coach Paul Everest.

Jane Oatey, headteacher of Lindfield School, said, "He has done brilliantly."
