I am resending the links to the forms we should review. Actually I am just
resending the entire email I sent the last time!
Let me know if you have any last minute questions.
Michelle
Here it is:
Hi BEC!
As we have mentioned in a few emails and zoom meetings, June 9th at 8 pm
eastern is our zoom meeting with USEF para classifier Joann Benjamin.
She has sent me an email, which I forwarded below with links to the various
forms you would need to fill out to get classified. None of this needs to be
filled out before the meeting, but if possible please review the forms and be
prepared with any questions. Joann will go over the forms with us. And I am
somewhat concerned that those using Jaws won’t be able to be reviewing the
form at the same time as they are on their computer on zoom. I will help
make sure we are describing which form and where we are on it for the
conversation. Of course, it is also a time to ask her any para sport and
classification questions. We won’t just be going over the forms.
I think the first link is a helpful overview and the 3rd and 4th forms are
the most critical to get familiar with. These are the forms you need to get
to your doctor. Number 3 for B/VI riders and 4 if you have any other
physical issues You do not need this filled out for this meeting. But this
is the part that can be confusing and why I wanted her to help us work
through it.
And finally, to beat the same drum again, even if you aren’t planning on
riding para dressage, we are hoping everyone will come so we show up in
numbers to help impress upon the Usef that there are a lot of us out here.
The more of us they need to serve, hopefully the more motivated they will be
to help make the system clear and fair for us too.
If you think your trainer or coach should come to learn about the
classification process, please invite them!
Thanks again! And enjoy your weekend!
Sincerely,
Michelle for the BEC orgcomm

If you hold a USEF classification and you are moving into FEI level
competition, the FEI forms (which are very similar) can be found on the FEI
website (FEI.org) and those forms are submitted to Laureen at USEF who will
forward the forms to the FEI.

Oh sorry! I am meant the paperwork you have to fill out to get para

such. I am hoping you can help walk us through the process they will need
to go through to get classified. Does that make sense?

I’m not certain what paperwork you are referring to? The description of
the grades? The information relating to the VI athlete? The aids for a
Grade IV or V?
Everything is on the USEF and FEI website in the Classification Manual but
there is a lot. If you can narrow down to what you want I might be able to
direct you to page #s???

Subject: Question
Hi there!
I was wondering if there is a link to the paperwork the grade 4 and 5 riders
could print off or review before our zoom session in June? Some of us are
totally blind and some are visually impaired. My thinking is that if they
have reviewed the paperwork it will be easier for them to stick with you
since the blind riders can’t use their voice reading software and be on the
zoom call at the same time.
Thanks!
Michelle
