the direct tv box is a stand alone box that does the streaming .

It works like a charm, you would be using voice view which is the screen reader built into the box, and the remote is easy to understand.

AT&T also has a similar program, though I can't recall specifically what it's called. You can call them and find out though.

Actually, Comcast has a program for low income persons which costs $9.95 for each service, that is $9.95 per month for Cable TV, Internet and Phone. I’m sure that these services are reduced TV channels, reduced Internet Speed and the phone service (not mobile phone service) may have more restrictions. This is for families with children, persons with disabilities and seniors. I don’t know if Verizon, Cox or Spectrum or other providers have similar programs.
Contact Comcast for more information or the provider you are interested in.

So, I am really confused. You can't afford $14 right now per month for prime, but yet you expect to be able to afford whatever is necessary to lower your cable bill. If I had to be very brutally blunt, you're not going to lower your cable bill to the point of it being less than $14 a month. There's just no way that's going to happen. It's not even a realistic fantasy to even have. So, I'm not even about to go down that rabbit trail. even if, joseph, you was to purchase a set of antenna rabbit years, and not use cable for anything, you would be paying more outright just for the antenna than $14. Those things generally are going to be at least $30 minimum, and even then, a $30 antenna is going to be pure crap, and hardly give you any good reception. I think honestly, you're setting your expectations a little bit high. it would be like having a deck of cards. You want to pay somebody $25 an hour to teach you all of the strategies and ways to play and get really good at poker. But yet, you're able to afford the $25 lessons, but you can't even afford a $15 deck of cards in the first place. How can you have the lessons, when you don't even have a deck of cards to start with. another example, somebody gets a $2000 guitar, yet, they say, I can't afford a $60 one hour long guitar lesson. You just bought a $2000 guitar. Yet, you can't even afford what you need to make that guitar work?
Let me be clear. This is not about managing finances better. I guess from a huge distant remote standpoint it is, but not really. it's more of the concept of getting the buggy/cart before getting the horse. if you're expecting to cord cut, but yet you don't have the equipment to do it, then that's something that Hass to be rectified, if you can't afford even the $14 a month to do that, then how do you expect to cover the cost for all of the services you will need to get the channels you're looking for once you have court cut? Court cutting, though you may think it is, is not free. It is definitely way cheaper than paying for traditional cable television, I will give you that, but it still isn't free necessarily. if you thought that cord cutting just means throwing the bill out the window altogether, and never paying another penny, that is not the way it works. You're still going to need the physical hardware to make cord cutting work in the long run. Whether that be a tablet, a smart phone, or a device that you hook up to your television you already have instead of a cable box such as an Apple TV, a fire stick, Roku, etc.
I'm not sure what else to say. We've made suggestions. I understand completely that money is an issue. Isn't it for all of us! But, sometimes, if you want something badly enough, sacrifices may have to be made.
Again, none of this is at all meant to be rude, but, it's more that we are all asking you on the list to think a bit realistically through this. if you can't even put down $14, or for that mind, don't like any of the newer streaming technologies out there available, then quite frankly, cord cutting is not for you. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but that's just how it is, regardless how you see it, how you feel about it, or how you like it. It's the reality of being realistic. I am, quite frankly, not sure what else, if anything, to say. we give suggestions, but regardless, everyone of them are turned down by you. Our hands are kind of therefore tied. It's not that we don't want to help you. We do, but joseph, we can only do but so much. You have to put some initiative forth yourself, whether you like doing so or not. Either that, or say screw this idea altogether, and don't Court cut.

Also, realized, prime might be 100 and something a year, but they do have an option to pay monthly, instead of yearly, so if that is too much for you, if you could handle around $14-$16 a month, that is also an option that you have for getting prime.

Well you wouldn’t be able to access some Prime content but you can still access a lot of apps for various streaming TV services very easily. I’m sure there is a good bit of Amazon content that is probably free. I am happy to pay the $120 per year as I get so so much shipped free that that $10 per month membership is worth every penny that I save on shopping costs and so often, I get many many items overnight or next day.
There is a provision for persons who are eligible for SNAP for a discount on Prime membership as well and many of the grocery items available on Amazon are SNAP eligible. This is deviating from the topic of this list though so anyone interested should go to the Amazon website or call the Amazon Disability Customer Service at:

You can subscribe to YouTube TV which gives you 100 channels for $65. I have not tried it but it should be similar to cable. The fire TV stick by itself is not similar to cable. An, no, you don’t need to et Prime with it.

Yes, drop Cable TV, perhaps lower your internet speed but do that as a last resort.
Then get an Amazon Fire TV which I know you don’t want as you don’t want a Smart TV. But there’s a lot as an Amazon Prime Member that is available for free.

Yeah, I’m paying Comcast $231 and tomorrow I plan to tell them that I am cutting the cord with them or else. I really don’t watch Cable that much and so I’m going back to Verizon VIOS albeit Comcast ha definitely improved over the last few years from what it used to be where I paid for faster internet speed and would experience outage of several hours at least every couple of weeks to just occasional drops I suppose when they update. Still, I have to trim the budget for personal reasons so if they won’t bargain with me, I’ll just use mostly free Apps on my Fire TV and what Amazon offers which is pretty good.
