Good point. I didn't even think about companies buying out your contract.
That's true in some cases. Good observation.
Chris.

The way the contract termination fee works through Comcast is if you are
using the service for one month of a 24 month contract, you would pay
perhaps $230 or the full termination fee whatever it is at the time as for
me it was $230. Each subsequent month, the fee is reduced by $10 until the
end of the 24 months. In my case mine elapsed and I have had no contract
since but sometimes, if you have used a service for say half of that
contract term, you likely will receive a perk from the new provider in the
form of a gift card or such to switch. That gift card could, in turn,
actually pay for your termination fee.
I would go back to your provider and ask them what the fee is currently
and perhaps when you could be able to have service with no contract.
HTH!

Joseph actually does have a very valid point here! A lot of providers
nowadays do charge an early termination fee to cancel service. That is
certainly definitely a very legitimate concern. And I definitely acknowledge
what joseph is saying regarding this. what if you told them, joseph, that
with your disability, the service was not usable by you, therefore, trying
to pay for something that is impossible for you to use with your disability
is not a feasible solution. I don't like using my disability as an excuse.
Let me be very black and white crystal clear regarding that, however, it
might be the only way to get them to bend on the contract terms. The other
thing you might want to do is to not just speak to Comcast customer service,
but possibly look at speaking to customer relations/retention, if they have
such department, which I'm sure they do. It may not have those exact names,
but I'm sure they have an equivalent. It has been my experience in the past
that customer service departments usually can't deviate from the terms set
forth in those contracts. Sometimes however, if you go to corporate, or
climb the ladder to these other departments I mentioned above, you can get a
little bit of wiggle room. It doesn't always mean that you definitely will,
but it's certainly worth trying. I get that one may say, if I could write
corporate, I don't have a printer, or any way of getting somebody to help me
with writing the message to the corporate office. If the word can't
continues to transpire in your vocabulary however, then you're right you
won't/can't. I always tell people, I can't is just G rated language for
saying, I won't. if you want a solution to a problem badly enough, there
will come a point in time when you will take drastic measures.

This is not true. I have a plan through Comcast Xfinity Mobile where no
contract is required for my iPhone and a plan for two flip phones for myself
and my Mom which are smart phones which are Android on Consumer Cellular
which one can obtain from a Target store or call them direct. There’s
absolutely no contract required. There are more carriers out there who also
do not require contracts.

yes the reason why Chris I don't like them is because they can track
you, also don't no how to use a eyephone, and don't have the money to pay
someone to try and learn it.

If you don't mind me asking, you keep saying, I don't like smart phones,
I don't like smart TVs, etc. Rather than just repeating over and over, I
don't like… Fill in the blank… Could you possibly explain more the reason
why? It might help us to better find a solution that would be comparable, if
we knew your reasons. i'm not asking you to go into extremely personal
reasonings, but generally speaking, if you could give us a little more to go
on, it would certainly help.

It depends on what package you get, but generally speaking, yes.
Regardless the package, you definitely would get all your local channels.
again though, without a smart phone, or a smart TV, or a device such as an
Apple TV/fire stick, using YouTube TV is going to be difficult. Not
impossible. You could still access it from a web browser, but the experience
definitely will be less desirable. That much, I can guarantee. It can be
done, but it's certainly not ideal. not only that, but, I'm not sure if
browsers such as Microsoft edge, Internet exploder, or Firefox would work
with the service optimally. I still have my Windows machine for audio
production stuff that I do professionally, however, for every day personal
use, I use a Mac now pretty much for everything. I see that just to say, my
days of browsing the web on windows pretty much are done. I might do it in a
pinch if I have no other option, but, I'm not the most familiar with most
up-to-date modern web browsers for windows.

You can subscribe to YouTube TV which gives you 100 channels for
$65. I have not tried it but it should be similar to cable. The fire TV
stick by itself is not similar to cable. An, no, you don’t need to et Prime
with it.

Yes, drop Cable TV, perhaps lower your internet speed but do that as
a last resort.
Then get an Amazon Fire TV which I know you don’t want as you don’t
want a Smart TV. But there’s a lot as an Amazon Prime Member that is
available for free.

Yeah, I’m paying Comcast $231 and tomorrow I plan to tell them that
I am cutting the cord with them or else. I really don’t watch Cable that
much and so I’m going back to Verizon VIOS albeit Comcast ha definitely
improved over the last few years from what it used to be where I paid for
faster internet speed and would experience outage of several hours at least
every couple of weeks to just occasional drops I suppose when they update.
Still, I have to trim the budget for personal reasons so if they won’t
bargain with me, I’ll just use mostly free Apps on my Fire TV and what
Amazon offers which is pretty good.
