Honestly, I have no idea. I've never heard of it being done before, but I suppose you could give it a try and see what happens when you fry them. If it works out well for you, be sure to let us know.

Traditionally, in order to make fries with russet potatoes, you soak them in ice water and them double cook them, once at a lower temp and then at a higher temp to crisp them.
My question is can you shorten things a little by tossing the batons with a little bit of oil and them softening them in the microwave?
