Valerie: You are correct. 350 degrees in Fahrenheit is almost the same as 180 degrees Celsius in other countries. It's not exact, but it is very close. Jon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Valerie" <rosetta@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi, I think oven temperatures in the U.S are different to here? We use
Celsius, so the temperature mentioned in the recipe for the biscuits is
180Celsius, a moderate oven heat, think that would be around 350F in the
U.S, but please check. There are lots of things to check sharing recipes
from country to country, hope I've got that right. Cheers. Valerie

Good Morning Valarie,

That helps a lot. I live in Las Vegas, NV. I am going to try to find castor
sugar in the store now that I know what it is.

Thanks again,

Hi Tammy, Here we have three types of white sugar, a course grained white
table sugar, a finer grained white sugar, often used for cake making, this is castor sugar and then there's a powdered sugar called icing sugar, but
I
believe icing sugar is confectionary sugar in the States? So castor sugar
is a fine grained white sugar. Hope that explains it O.K., Cheers.
Valerie.

I meant to say in the earlier post with the recipe for Greek Almond
Biscuits
that I had sent it to another list, but thought also that blind cooks
people
might like to give them a try. They are lovely biscuits and the recipe
comes from my daughter. Cheers. Valerie

Greek Almond Biscuits

  _____

3 cups almond meal

3 egg whites

1 cup castor sugar

1 cup flaked almonds

3 drops almond essence

Heat oven to 180, line a tray with baking paper.

Place egg whites in a bowl and lightly beat, stir in sugar, almond meal
and
almond essence. Mix together well, mixture should be slightly sticky.
Take
one tablespoon at a time of the mixture, roll into little logs, repeat
with
all the mixture.

Spread flaked almonds on a large plate, roll each biscuit into the
almonds,
pressing any leftover nuts onto biscuits. Place logs on lined baking tray
and cook for 15 - 18 minutes.
