And for what it may be worth, the responses I got to send me a battery door
for the Iriver IFP899, and the one I received, it does not fit the IFP 899.
Go figure. I knew the IFP899 is larger than the IFP 799. This includes the
battery door. I have to still hold the battery in with a rubber band. Such
high tech, professional equipment. lol

Thank you and Debbie for the suggestions. I think I may have found the
problem. The line in/Ext. Mic setting was changed to line in for some
reason. I'm going to see if that fixes the next recording I do tonight and
if it doesn't then I'll try to adjust the volume.

Try raising the volume through Total Recorder if that feature is available.
Also, you might want to check the levels on the IRiver.
