That would be great! I say Kudos to Apple for making an attempt on our behalf!

As stated previously, apple has made this possible with its accessibility
frame work and guidelines. if a program is coded via these standards and
guidelines, say maybe something coded with MSAA in mind for windows, we would
have more accessible programs all around. I don't fault apple for none of this.

    Hey gary,
Well, aside from the existing blind Mac users, there are more and more
Windows users switching to the Mac platform. Especially now that Macs can also
run Windows if necessary and, more so, since virtualization allows the Mac OS
to run Windows applications without actually running the Windows operating
system, things might change quite a bit. More than anything, though, for a
student to be able to use any Mac within an academic environment is just the
absolute best. One last thing I forgot to mention is the price. The VoiceOver
screen reader is, uh, free! Yes, that's right, free. LOL.
Anyway, let's hope this all works out for the best and becomes an example
of what can happen when we raise our voices.
    Cheers.

Thanks, Jerry! Well from what I hear, the Mack is working to make things
accessible out of the box with it's Tiger. I'm not sure how many people will
go over to the Mack after using Windows for all these many years. I've never
used anything like it, but judging from people who use it, Protools is a great
program, and I hope that it will become more accessible for those who like to
use its features.

Pro Tools has been around for Windows for years. Since it was not
natively a Windows application, it doesn't work well with any screen reader.
We've had several people look into scripting it for JAWS, for example, and they
all said it would not be feasible. The overwhelming majority of studios and
academic institutions use Macs for Pro Tools. Given the fact that VoiceOver is
built into the OS, having the application be compatible with VoiceOver on the
Mac is the most efficient and cost-effective solution, accessibility without
having to jump through extra hoops of development by third parties.

I don't know if this has been done yet, but there should be a
Protools for
Windows. Maybe that'll make things a lot easier for blind people who
want
          to use the product!
