I'm posting this information because many people use Windows Live Mail,
which is part of Windows Essentials 2012. If you're a WLM user, you
should know that support for that program will end on January 10 of
2017. The program will continue to function but it won't receive
additional support. What follows is part of an FAQ from Microsoft's
support site discussing this issue.

Will Windows Essentials 2012 still be available for download?
Windows Essentials 2012 suite will be available for download until it
reaches its end of support date on January 10, 2017.
What happens to my already installed Windows Essentials 2012 applications?
Already installed applications will continue to work as they do today.
There is an increased security risk associated with use of unsupported
products past their end of support date.
Can I still use Windows Live Mail?
Yes. Though, some email service providers have moved to newer email
protocols for improved security and reliability not supported by Windows
Live Mail. These email service providers may no longer work.
Are there any recommended alternatives?
• Mail is available as a free built-in application for Windows 8.1 and
above.
• Photos is available as a free built-in application for Windows 8.1 and
above.
• Movie Maker will soon be available from Windows Store for Windows 10
users.
• Live Writer is available as an open-source solution.
• One Drive is an inbox feature for Windows 8.1 and above.
• Family Safety is an inbox feature for Windows 8.1 and above.
What operating system do I need to install Windows Essentials 2012
Windows Essentials 2012 programs will run on Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit
versions), Windows 8.1 (32-bit or 64-bit versions), Windows
Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 2 and the
Platform Update for Windows Server 2008, or Windows Server 2012.
Additional installation requirements might be necessary to run Windows
Essentials 2012 on Windows Server or N SKUs.
Windows Live Essentials 2009 is no longer available to download for
Windows XP. Learn more about Windows XP end of support
Windows Live Essentials 2011 is no longer available to download for
Windows Vista.
