Cynthia,
I sent the following note to Chief Donnelly, chief of police, via the
Elkton Police Dept. Web site. I felt I needed to do this after Beth
texted me. She did contact the police and was also told that a car on
Gray Mt. Drive was vandalized.
Chief Donnelly,
This morning our home on Gray Mount Circle was burglarized while my wife
and I were out. We did file a police report with Officer Forster this
morning. However, I just discovered that my neighbor, who lives three
doors down from us, was also burglarized the other day and she has
informed me that someone's car on Gray Mount Drive was also burglarized.
Obviously, this greatly concerns me. I happen to be visually impaired
and have lived here for over twenty years without incident. While there
is certainly no guarantee of safety in any home in any neighborhood I
have enjoyed living in what I thought was a quiet and safe community. As
of today I no longer feel safe. I am respectfully writing to you to ask
that your department do whatever is necessary to investigate these
crimes. Would you please provide more of a presence in this community,
which will not only go a long way in making us feel safer but which
could, potentially, lead to these criminals being discovered and arrested.
Respectfully,
David Goldfield
