Well, one thing I've learned from the deplorable behavior of Trump and the
leadership of both parties is that kind and civil don't seem to work very
well anymore. WE know all about the terrible things that Trump has said
during this poor excuse for an election campaign. But let us not forget
that, while the Democrats talk all nicy nice, they have also acted in a
deplorable manner by rigging their primaries in favor of a crooked insider
for whom there was never very much enthusiasm and aginst a very popular
candidate who was much more willing to tell it like it is.
Lesson to be lerned here is that we must take off the boxing gloves and
learn to play hardball. This will not be difficult for me. I'ev been
involved in many advocacy campaigns, mostly related to PwD and in many
instances, my colleagues scold me and tell me to "behave myself, tone down
my rhetoric" etc.
I think from now on, I'll be less likely to comply and be nicy nice and more
likely to state my case and tel it like it is in very plain and what some
might call crude language. That won't mean using lots of foul language or
calling folks nasty names. But it will mean doing things like pointing out
instances when a given act may be legal, but not moral. It also means
calling out racists, biggots, and other similarly small-minded folks. It
means calling those who have no compunction about cutting off services to
poor people evil, IT means asking folks to take more of a long-run approach
instead of acting in a short-sighted manner.
