So now the media are still talking about Russian interference in our elections,
still talking about its promotion of Trump, even though the main thrust of that
story was debunked by Mueller, himself. And we have people connecting third
party candidates with Russia and the media saying that Russia is now promoting
Sanders. I hear journalists whom I once considered to be dependable and
rational, giving reports that sound reasonable, and Suddenly, they insert a
sentence about Russian interference in our election. It's particularly ironic,
given what our government has been doing to the Venezuelan government and given
the history of how the US interfered with Russian elections after the fall of
the Soviet Union. Sylvie began posting articles from alternative media to this
list because she thought that its members would be receptive to information
from a wide range of sources. But she stopped posting articles before she
disappeared completely. Before that, I once had a conversation with her in
which I said that now that she'd informed people about all these alternative
sources, they would seek them out on their own and she didn't have to keep
posting articles. She just laughed at me in response. Now, in retrospect, I
understand why. People are very credulous, even those who've remained on Blind
Democracy. Anyone who still believes that Jill Stein is a Russian asset or that
Bernie Sanders is a dangerous radical, or that Russia thought that Donald Trump
would be a friend to the Russian government, or that the Democratic Party wants
Joe Biden as their presidential candidate rather than Bernie Sanders because
they think that Biden can win against Trump, is as confused as the ruling class
wants him or her to be.

My dad took me to the Telenews theater in Seattle, during the last days of the
War. Russian troops had just broken through to embrace the American troops.
These grinning men dressed in heavy fur coats and big fur hats, grabbed our
soldiers and hugged them and kissed them on both cheeks. It was the first time
I ever saw men kissing men...even just on the cheeks. But my dad told me on
the way home, "Too bad it won't last". And sure enough, only days later the
papers began trashing the Russians. What's interesting is the fact that at the
same time, the Media began playing up the plight of the Chinese Peasants.

I remember that during the second world war, Americans were grateful
to, and respected Russia, for being so effective in fighting the
German army and helping to crush Nazism. Of course we didn't know that
at the same time we were fighting the Nazis, our government was
bringing some nazi scientists to the US . We didn't know that as soon
as the war ended, Russia would become, in the eyes of our government,
a threat as big, or bigger, than the Nazis.
After all, our government was funded by big business and if enough
countries began to see Communism as a better route to a good life than
capitalism, our corporations would lose. So the cold war began and it
was a battle between capitalism and communism. At least, that's what
it seemed to be. The US represented capitalism, along with freedom and
democracy. Russia and China represented communism which meant
autocracy and uniformity and a lack of luxury items and scarcity of
basic items. Every news story we read, every movie we saw, TV show we
watched, radio program we heard, all of it verified this view. Anyone
who deviated from this view was either crazy, or disloyal, or an
outright spy. Anyone who might have once believed that some form of
state socialism might provide a better way of life for people than
capitalism, was in jeopardy of losing his or her job or possibly being
imprisoned. The Rosenbergs were put to death for attempting to change
the power dynamics between Russia and the US. What is so amazing to
many of us now, is how, even though Russia has become a hyper
capitalist country and China has a complex mixed system and is hardly
a traditional communist state, the hate mongering and negative
mythology about these two countries is being used again by power
elites in our government to accomplish purposes which have very little
to do with any danger that they pose to the US.
Because the hatred and fear of these countries has become part of
American culture, it is very easy for our elites to use them to
manipulate the American people. It is a very sad and tragic thing to observe.
