My own feeling all along has been that because of money and power, Hillary
will get the Democratic nomination. I have supported Bernie's candidacy
because I see it as a way of getting the issues of economic inequality and
the influence of money on politics, discussed publicly. It would not be
covered by the mainstream media at all, if Bernie were not somewhat
successful. I send a tiny bit of money to his campaign from time to time
because it is the only way available to me to show the Democratic Party
establishment that I am dissatisfied with how the Party has developed since
the 70's in terms of domestic economic issues. Jill Stein says all of the
things with which I agree in terms of foreign and domestic policy. And I
will most likely be voting for her. But if I do, that will be a choice that
makes me feel good, but will have no influence at all on what happens in our
country unless enough people dessert the Democratic party so that the
Republican Presidential candidate wins. In that case, a choice that made me
personally comfortable, will have harmed the country and the world. If I
were healthy and involved in a meaningful volunteer effort, I might convince
myself that I was working for change outside of the political system. A lot
of people are writing about how change comes from the bottom up, bubbles up,
etc. But usually, there are political organizers guiding all of that
bubbling.
