It wouldn't have mattered what the House did. The Republicans in the Senate had
decided that they would give Trump a pass and next week, they'll vote to
exonerate him. Chomsky is right when he says that the Republican Party is the
most dangerous organization  that exists. I was just listening to Ezra Klein on
the New Yorker Hour. I don't agree with everything he said, but I do agree with
his point that the Republican Party is representing only white Christians while
the Democratic party is attempting to represent a coalition of voters from the
suburbanites to the African Americans in North Carolina, as well as their
donors.

allowing witnesses in President Trump’s impeachment trial

No surprises here. The House did a poor job, failing to charge Trump with the
total slate of abuses of the office of President.  But they did send the
request for impeachment over to the Senate.  And 51 Senators bravely handed
Donald Trump a "get out of jail free" card.
Already Donald Trump has approved a record number of White, Male, Ultra
Conservative Federal Judges.  His administration has already underfunded
Departments such as Education, VA, Health and Welfare.
Massive millions of dollars are now lined up to "vote" for Donald Trump in
2020.  Voter's lists are being purged, voting districts are being
Gerrymandered, and voting poles are being closed in many Working Class
neighborhoods.
Are these really the end times for democracy?

The Senate rejected the idea of witnesses in President Donald Trump’s
impeachment trial, all but ensuring his eventual acquittal. The vote
on allowing witnesses was defeated 51-49 on a near party-line vote.
