You make a lot of good points. Luckily, I have the same option for voting how I
wish as you do. But I do think that our country is in a terrible situation.
Tuesday night, as I listened to the coverage by Democracy Now and The
Intercept, I heard Naomi Klein describe what four more years of Trump would
most probably mean. She's a very smart person and I think that her political
instincts are good. She sees a probable descent into Fascism with an end to any
democracy that we have left and the speeding up of environmental degradation.
Trump has already appointed a huge number of right wing judges, not only the
two on the Supreme Court, but many others in other federal courts, and they'll
be in their positions for 30 years or more. I was reminded yesterday on one of
the podcasts to which I listen, that it was Obama that instituted the cages in
which immigrant children are kept, not Trump. So much that what Obama and the
Democrats did was soft pedaled by the news media. Then, when Trump was elected
and began building on what was already in place, the media blamed him for
everything, and we all believed them. The other important thing to remember is
that Biden is really mentally incompetent. His dementia is apparent. I'm
forgetful. He's in much worse shape than I am. The idea that the Democratic
Party would promote him as a candidate because they're so terrified of Bernie
Sanders who is not going to make any fundamental changes to our system, who
just wants to go back to a few social welfare programs, tells me how basically
untrustworthy the Democratic Party has become. Clearly, they know, if I know,
that if Biden runs for President, Trump will remain in office, and they're
willing to have that outcome rather than have their elites lose a bit of wealth
and the rest of us gain some desperately needed financial security.

Yes, both Biden and Trump are bad choices, I agree.
But Trump is still worse as far as I'm concerned even though I do agree with
most of your points on Biden. I don't believe that Biden is as corrupt as
Trump; That's a mighty high bar there. Biden will at least ensure no more
rightward movement of the Supreme Court and that should be beneficial to women,
especially those unfortunate to live in the hard red states that are now
declaring war on a woman's right to choose and in some cases, a women's right
to decent healthcare.
Yes, Biden is surely a hawk and way too easy on the corporate raiders,
banksters and other assorted practitioners of financial chicanery. But Trump is
all of that and so much more.
On the other hand, four more years of Trump might make more Americans ready for
real change as suggested by the more progressive wing that has now been so
cruelly squelched by the Democrat establishment.
Since Massachusetts will vote for Biden over Trump by a wide margin, perhaps I
should right in Bernie or maybe Warren? The electoral college does give me the
freedom to vote my heart with no fear of helping Trump get re-elected.

I'd like someone to explain to me just exactly how things would be better if we
vote for Biden. He's just as corrupt as Trump, just quieter about it. In some
ways he's more warlike, while in other ways he isn't. On Moderate Rebels, James
Cardin listed how he differs from Trump on foreign policy. There are
differences, but basically, he's not any better. All of these people who become
president, depend on advisors. His are from the Clinton camp. His record is
racist. Black people won't benefit from his presidency. He will function
similarly to Obama, but slightly worse on domestic economic policy. He's not a
meglo maniac or an incipient fascist. He's just mentally incompetent. I'm
really not sure I could bring myself to vote for such a candidate.

Back when I was a young man, in the 60's, I was encouraged to see an uprising
among America's Black Churches. But it didn't last long.
The Ruling Class of any nation uses religion to herd the people into compliance.
Thomas Jefferson understood the need to keep Church and State separate. And
Karl Marx called religion the opiate of the masses.
Again, in my younger years, I was soothed by religion. Breaking that addiction
was a longer struggle than quitting smoking. But I'm okay now...just don't get
between me and my chocolates.

McArthy, the anti war candidate, came to the Democrdatic Convention in
Chicago with a plurality of votes, and the party did not allow him to

brokered convention. And remember what followed? Nixon won the
election in a landslide. So the party leadership in 2020, would rather
keep their personal influence and incomes and promote a candidate who
is , aside from his terrible record, suffering from some kind of age
related brain damage, than to allow a people's candidate to confront
Donald Trump in the presidential election. We've watched a show for a
year and a half, a pretense in which people have appeared to compete
for the Democratic party's presidential nomination. I listened to
very intelligent, well meaning people, attempt to explain why Joe
Biden got a majority of the black vote in all those southern states.
But all their reasons made less sense than what I've heard Glenn Ford
of the Black Agenda Report say over and over again about, what he
calls, "the black misleadership class". Those people listened to their
ministers and their politicians, all of whom have been bribed, in one
way or another, by the Democratic Party. The people are vulnerable and
they turn to people whom they've ben taught to trust, to help them
survive in a racist world. If you know anything about the
Congressional Black Caucus, you know that it does not function in the
interest of black voters. It's all machine politics. In the same way
that so many white working people voted against their own interests
when they voted for Trump, black working people can also be
manipulated to vote against their interests.
