As some of you may know, I am a fan of The Economist magazine. I don’t always
agree with them, but I find that they are generally on my wavelength on most
things.
In the latest issue, November 17, available on BARD today, there’s an hour and
fifteen minute special report on the issue of lack of competition in the
capitalist economic system, and some suggestions that might help solve the
problem.
I haven’t had time to read it yet, but I gather from the headlines of the
articles that a lot, but not all, of the focus is on America. One of the
articles traces much of the current lack of competition to an influential book
written by Robert Bork, whom I’m sure some of you remember well.
Some of you might find something interesting in it, although you may not agree
with their suggestions, since they do generally support the current economic
system. Still, I thought I’d mention it here. I plan to read it soon.
