Carl,
First, I thought you said you would be gone for 3 weeks. So I'm happily
surprised to see you back on line.
Second: While in California, you could have gotten all their Pacifica network
stations which have the kinds of things we read about on line. As a matter of
fact, KPFA broadcast Democracy Now's 5 hour coverage of the Science March
today. It was also streamed from the website. Well, I didn't want to sit at the
computer, but I can get KPFA on my stream and I listened to 2 hours of the
march before I got bored.
Next, the book is not about Hillary. It is about how dysfunctional her campaign
was. It is so poisonous in terms of describing the various interactions among
campaign staffers and the negative effects that Bill and Hillary exerted on
everyone, that it's caused quite a stir. Matt Taibbi and Robert Perry both
wrote articles about it which I saw yesterday, and that's why I got it. It's
just fascinating to read. You know, there is this three volume series about
Eleanor Roosevelt on BARD. The third volume was recently completed. And I'm
slowly getting through it. I finished the first volume and was into the second
when Shattered came along to divert me. But those books about Eleanor are
fascinating for much the same reason as shattered. There's so much detail, so
much inside stuff about people whose names are familiar. And I have to say that
each new news item that I read about or hear about on a daily basis, is so
incredibly horrifying, that I do want to hide and reading these books is a bit
diverting. By the way, there's a passage in Shattered which describes how
Bernie decided to run and why he did so as a Democrat. He didn't want to join
the Democrats, but people convinced him that he had no chance of being heard by
the public, unless he ran in the Democratic primary.
And I suspect you had a birthday while you were away? If so, happy birthday.
And last, I'm expecting a report on your political observations that you made
during your travels.
Miriam

Subject: [blind-democracy] Re: Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed
Campaign
Hi All,
Home sweet home and my favorite old computer. I enjoy going, and I enjoy
visiting friends and relatives. But after two weeks living out of suitcases and
sleeping in strange beds, home is a welcome place.
While real news is hard to find on the radio when traveling through Oregon,
California's rural regions, Arizona, Nevada and Utah, religious programming is
plentiful. A few Right Wing talk shows and George Norry's Coast to Coast. NPR
is getting under my skin, believing that they are being fair by inviting a
Republican to speak opposite a Right Wing Democrat.
I did see a few comments on my travels through my new rebuilt laptop computer,
regarding the Hilary Book of Scandals. Frankly, Hilary Clinton was a Player in
Obama's administration, supposedly as a Democrat supporting the common working
class Americans.
While I get angry thinking about the dirty tricks played upon Hilary by the
Ruling Class' Right Wing, her hands were just as dirty. And, Hilary can be
counted as one of the Elite Ruling Class, herself...along with Bill of course.
The Ruling Class is no more unified than is the more populous working class.
You can determine on which side of an issue various corporations line up, based
on the impact to their bottom line. Environmental issues and social
services...including health, are not areas supported by most of these
Nation-like Mega Corporations. I am more concerned with how we build
resistance to the upcoming desecration of our public health, our public
education, and our planet, than I am with Hillary's scandalous behavior.
So much of the attitude of disregard and contempt for the property of others,
as well as our public property, is due to the examples set by our Ruling Class.
The greed driven corporations demonstrate by their actions that nothing
matters except the acquisition of more and more.
Developing a solid resistance to this unrelenting pressure should be our number
one concern. Let Hillary become relegated to the back shelves of our
libraries, and forgotten. There is, in my opinion, no lesson to be gained from
studying this two-faced woman.

I forwarded Matt Taibbi's article about this book to the list earlier
today.
After reading another article about the same book, I found it on
Bookshare and put everything else aside to start reading it. It's
really quite a book!
Fascinating! I can see why people are writing articles about it. Lots
of details, lots of dirt.
