Each week I listen to the podcast, Scheer Intelligence which can also be
accessed from the Truthdig website, usually on Saturdays. Usually, I am
amused by the fact that although Robert Scheer is supposed to be
interviewing very interesting people on these programs, he tends to do more
talking than his guests. He just can't keep his mouth shut because he has a
lot of opinions and a good deal of outrage to express. But this week is
different. He interviews John Keriakou who is talking about the nomination
of Gina Hascold, or however you spell her last name, to be CIA director.
John has a great deal of knowledge about the CIA and torture. He was, after
all, sent to jail for telling the world about the illegal torture program.
This is the first time that Robert Scheer allowed his guest to talk for most
of the time. I suspect that he was horrified by what Keriakou had to say,
not only about torture, but about how our senators and representatives who
are supposed to be monitoring the CIA in their intelligence committees, have
lied about what they know and have done nothing to stop the torture.
