Dear Senator Murray,
Just the thought of a Free People handing away their responsibility
for educating their youth is unbelievable.
And to allow that education to become a money making venture for
corporate capitalists is beyond all reason.
Most assuredly our public education needs attention, from preschool
through college, but it must be maintained as Public Education if we
are going to keep the Torch of Freedom burning.
As long as education belongs to the People, we can debate whether or
not it is the sort of education we want for our children. But once it
is in the hands of Corporations, all bets are off.
Of course Congress is unwilling to do the simple task of increasing
funding to rebuild broken school houses and increase the numbers of
teachers in order to make education possible instead of warehousing
students. Once we bring our nation's education up to modern
standards, we can go about debating the content.
I do not expect my concerns to go far in the new administrations
thinking. The very fact that we continue to spend huge sums of tax
dollars on WMD says it all. What are we "protecting"? Are we really
defending our borders from Terrorists? Or are we opening our public
holdings to the greed-driven Corporations.
I know that I'm preaching to the choir, Senator Murray, but I feel so
helpless at times, thinking of our Freedom being sold to Privateers.
Please stay strong and continue your good works.

In naming Ms. DeVos, Trump has picked someone to lead the Department of
