Look at his appointment of that guy, Banner. He is an outspoken racist and
his website for news organization or whatever it is, has done criminal stuff
in the past. There are 2 things going on here. There are the Republicans who
swept in because of Trump's victory, and they are extreme and dangerous. But
then there is Trump who is truly nuts, and has consorted with criminals,
real Mafia types who've been in prison and Russian oligarches who are like
the Mafia, throughout his career. Trump flouts the law openly and he openly
encourages violence against minorities. The Republicans' violence is done
undercover and by enacting cruel laws. Trump's is out in the open, and he
has little impulse control so he's more frightening. The reason that it's
important to immediately demonstrate dissent is that, that's a defensive
measure to protect people from what is about to happen. We can't wait until
it happens. We can't give him a chance. He's already demonstrated throughout
his life and throughout his campaign, what he can do. There's no point in
being fair to someone who is a known sociopath.

I expect I'll draw some slings and arrows here but here goes.
Frankly, I am much more bothered by the idea that the right-wing of the
Republican Party will be taking control than I am about Trump himself. Yes,
he's uttered a good deal of negative crap and may well be guilty of sexual
assault, but if he acts upon those instincts as president, the fish bowl in
DC will surely shine a light upon him and he will draw considerable
ridicule. I certainly believe in what the protesters are doing, but I think
that, in general, we should give him a bit of rope with which to hang
himself. That puts us on firmer ground when we oppose him as we should with
all that is within us when we see specific examples of blood such as cuts to
a budget.
Unless we are prepared to mount a real revolution, we must accept the
results of a very flawed process. That is better than what the Republicans
did to Obama but should we who are progressive sink to that level?
More importantly, the coming adversarial battles in the next two years will
be a chance for progressigves to start fighting with more guts and more
stones, as do the Republicans. When it comes to American politics I am
convinced now more than ever that nice guys finish last.
