We have been so conditioned to think in terms of communism requiring
a violent overthrow such as in Russia and China. Those have been
failed attempts because they ended up defending the very systems they
replaced. Except instead of being headed by a Czar or an Emperor,
they were taken over by a "Big Brother" dictator. Wolff pointed out
that the three major systems, slavery, serfdom and capitalism all
required the masses to work for the Masters. Only the names have been
changed. Anyway, too bad such illustrations can't be looked at in our
"Propaganda Free" schools.

I've just listened to the excerpt of the speech. It is a wonderful simple
lesson in Marxist theory. He is not advocating a revolution or state
socialism. He is, as in everything I've ever heard him say, advocating
worker cooperatives and he's explaining what is wrong with Capitalism in
terms of its relationship to Democracy.
