There's David Swanson and his World Without War website, emails, and books.
He keeps plugging away. And Chris Hedges is also involved in peace
activism, along with other things. He does function on a
religious/philosophical level. But as for a mass movement?

Of course it is not only that we do not hear of peace activists within the
Christian/Catholic Church, the fact is, we do not hear of any of the many
peace activists quietly doing their job. It's un-American, or at least anti
Empire. But in Spokane Washington, there is a little known Jesuit college,
Gonzaga by name. If you follow college basketball you will know their name.
But those darn Jesuits are as Peace Active as you'll find. Back in the 70's
and 80's, when my folks still lived in Spokane, my dad, an avowed Atheist,
wandered into a peace rally headed by a group of young Jesuit Priests. My
dad was thrilled. He began spending almost as much time at Gonzaga as the
priests, themselves. Isn't it interesting that Gonzaga has a national
reputation as a feisty, scrappy little giant killer, on the basketball
court, but no word of the work those priests have done to promote world
peace. Of course those "young" priests are now in their 60's, and since my
parents no longer walk this Earth, I'm out of touch with what the newest
crop of Jesuit Priests are doing. But I have to believe the tradition lives
on. It is simply muzzled by the Empire's
Media. After all, the Empire is for Peace, too. On its terms.

I admire these priests. They live what they say. Fr. Carl is such
a fantastic person. Even though he is in his 80's when he talks of
his entire voice changes he sounds like a man of 60. I'm so glad I met
him.
