Don Moore is a very right wing blind guy who used to live in New York and
retired to Florida to live where his retired father lived. Don had some kind of
civil service job, but he his a right wing government hater who runs a private
right wing email list for other blind people who have benefited from the
government that they hate. Interestingly, in person, he's a pleasant, mild
mannered guy and he can be pleasant in emails that are unrelated to politics.
But he turns into an irrational monster, once the subjectmatter turns to
politics. He recently told me, in a private email, that he used to be a left
wing Democrat in the early 70's. I can't remember the name of the candidate
running against Carter in the primary, the one who scared the Democrats into
setting up the super delegate system, but Don supported that candidate.

You're right. Mostafa needs to take us off his broad distribution list. From
time to time I receive notices that one or another person wants off the list.
People I've never heard of. But I didn't know where the obscene email came
from, in fact Inever even looked to see who had such bad taste. It's annoying,
but I guess I'm accustomed tto receiving strange posts in my Spam. Mostly it's
very explicit requests for sex, but I still get lots of folks wanting me to
open their email in order to stop payment, or receive money, or to simply
verify that I am no longer receiving their email. It's annoying, but I only
receive about 8 or 9 a day. The ones I don't mess with are the many, many
begging letters for one political cause or another.
Everybody needs my money. I quit trying to cancel them, and just delete them.
The only time that's a problem is when I'm gone for several days. When we went
on our five day cruise earlier this month, I had over 250 of these begging
letters in my email in basket.

I did the other thing which I hope will prevent our receiving stray
emails from people who aren't on this list. I've asked Mustafa, on
this list, to stop including this list on group emails. If he wants to
participate on this list, that's fine. But this list is separate from
other lists. I don't want to be on those other blindness discussion
lists and their members don't want to be on this one. If Mustafa
hadn't been doing these mass mailings, we never would have received that
piece of garbage from Don Moore.

I think it goes with the territory. We leave ourselves open to all
sorts of abuse, based on our personal differences. I saw this post
and simply deleted it. My Spam is full of much worse garbage. It
does bother me that young children are receiving lots of exposure to
an ugly side of life, but then I remember reading words I had never
seen, written on the walls in bathrooms and the sides of buildings. I
remember sitting down with my children and talking about this sort of
garbage. We never denied that it existed, but we never accepted it inside
our family.
