Bob and All,
The sensitivity training should have been given to the employee's
great grandparents, grandparents, parents and "Early Intervention"
training for the employee, if it was going to be effective. Deep
seated values are passed along, even when the effort to avoid them is
made.
My difference with Smith College is that the employee was not made to
sit down with the student and apologize face to face.
Beyond that, the lesson here is that prejudice still runs through our
Land. And to make matters worse, our "Leader" uses derision, division
and
Smear Tactics to turn us against one another, rather than seeking ways
to unite us and lead us in ways of accepting our differences, and
celebrating them.

Kanoute, she was crying; I almost cried myself.
One editorial in the Boston Blobe rightly labeled this a disgrace and said
that whoever made that call shouldn't be working at Smith college anymore.
But another editorial actually claimed that this employee was doing a good
thing, that is, say something when you see something that you think is out
of place! This turkey actually said that it might be offensive to put this
employee through sensitivity training! Some Americans are so damned
brainwashed!
