Actually, the only part of Hillary Clinton that ever moved to the Left
was her mouth. If we thought Clinton was Hawkish enough as Secretary
of State, just wait until she holds the Brass Ring.
Do any of you hear that slurping sound? That is the War Corporations
drooling with eager expectation.

young woman in Ferguson who thanks Mike Brown for giving purpose to her
life. Before his murder, she felt like she had no reason to get out of bed
in the morning, no life to live. Now she has a reason to get up each day,
to
protest and to demonstrate against racism.

All very true, Miriam. But to my way of thinking, losing hope is the most
fatal of all losses.
I remember clearly a time in my life when I felt absolutely helpless.
My wife and I were going through a divorce, I was sending most of my money
to my wife and daughter, I was working long hours at crappy jobs, and try
as
I might, our state organization of the blind was falling apart due to aging
and infirmary, as well as plain indifference. What I mostly recall about
my
inner being was how immobilized I was. So much to do and I couldn't even
decide what was most important. What could I do to improve anything at
all?
So for a period of time I did absolutely nothing. One day my VRC asked me
if I would be available to volunteer to run the Braille and Taping Service
for recording text books for blind college students. By this time I was
unemployed and living on SSDI. I don't know why I did it, but I agreed to
take on the job. I think, looking back, that I had the idea that down the
road I might get hired for the permanent position.
As I came into contact with young, energetic blind students, eager to take
on the world, I realized that I had become old and wasted inside my own
head. At 35 I came out of my shell, realizing that no matter how much I
did, or how little, if enough of us joined together we could move
mountains.
Okay, so I went from one extreme to the other, but I quit thinking in terms
of not being able to "do it all". Of course what little gains I made, or
for that matter what gains our state organization made, there would always
be more to do than we had people or energy or money to do. Since then I
have always done what I could from where I was at the time. And knowing
that there is more to do than I could ever hope to do, I go to bed at
night,
tired and contented. I take time out most days for meeting my, and Cathy's
needs.
Once upon a time I worried about the unresolved issues that I would leave
behind, if I did not work a little harder and a lot smarter.
Today, at 81 and in less than good health, I know without a doubt that my
death will not make a single difference in the affairs of the blind, much
less of those of the Working Class. But I hope that at the point of death,
I have enough presence of mind to say, "I die true to my convictions. My
head is held high and my Spirit is unbroken."
What more can I hope for?

limited resources, and may have other physical difficulties as well.
So yes, all of those options exist and some people can choose them.
But many can't, for a variety of reasons. Some people on this list can
become involved in volunteer work for a political or social cause and
doing that kind of thing is a contribution toward democracy and toward
hope. But for those of us who can't do that, or who see the small
actions as being insignificant in relation to the powerful forces that
are destroying us, there's not a whole lot of comfort. Running for
local offoice if you live in a conservative Republican area, isn't
going to cut it. Volunteering at a soup kitchen while your country
murders women and children in the mid east, doesn't work too well
either.

Dear Marsha and anyone else who is feeling hopeless.
There are a number of dangerous threads being woven into this upcoming
Fantasy called "The Presidential Run for the Roses". One thread is
repeated over and over. The current Ruling Class, better known as,
The Establishment, wants you to believe that "All hope is lost." It
is far easier to trample people who do not resist. Whatever else you
do, DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE!! Remember, there are many less visible, but
critical jobs needing filled at lower political levels. Get out and
work for those people holding closest to your values, or run for a
position from which you can express your beliefs. People will listen.
A few of them just might be looking for someone who share their own
positions.
Another thread is that of our National Security. We are being
frightened into coughing up even more of our dwindling personal dollars
to
our
nation from Terrorists who are sneaking past our borders and
disrupting our once powerful and peace loving nation.
Do not waste your time searching for these Terrorists. Ask instead,
"Who is causing the greatest Terror in our Nation?" It may not
surprise you to find that our once friendly cop on the corner now
looks like a Commando, dressed in Assault Gear. If you live in an
upper working class neighborhood, you might need to wander into the
local ghetto in order to see these once smiling officers in action.
Or simply organize a peaceful demonstration demanding the police to
stop being afraid of Black People. The Cops will suddenly attend your
demonstration, in full battle gear.
And one other disturbing thread is that of turning working class folks
against one another. The Establishment, also known as "The Empire",
knows full well that a House Divided Cannot Long Stand. They use
every opportunity to turn unions against other unions, people of color
against other people of color, men against women, working folks
against retired folks...even their own grandmothers, Green Peace
against Code Pink, the list is as endless as there are groups to be
exploited.
Most important of all is the need for each of us to question the
source of all information that comes before us, including this opinion
piece. Who is telling me.
Why are they wanting my support?
Can I verify the facts being presented?
Does the writer appear to be promoting unity among the Working Class,
or promoting fragmentation?
We must begin questioning all information that comes before us. If
not, some Trump-like Piper will tootle us down the road to our own doom.

I don't know if Missouri is a swing state. I do know that there
really isn't anyone I want to vote for. All the state candidates for
state offices
are former Marines or army seals. This is really scary. Military
industrial complex? All right to life people who were military folks.
Don't understand that one. Sorry about all this rambling. It seems
so hopeless. Perhaps I will just listen to "Chrystal Blue Persuasion"
and think things might get better.
