I believe Miriam’s confusion is occasioned by my use of the word obfuscation to
describe the original article which I found to be very confused.

Of course you are confused. That is exactly what obfuscation causes.

If it had been in a paragraph, then I would have gotten the meaning from the

somewhere in my unconscious, I guess. Then I asked Richard why and he
answered, and I'm as confused as I was when I first looked up the word.

I am surprised that someone on this list would have to look up the
definition of obfuscate, but that reminds me that there is a certain word
that I use occasionally that every time I do use it someone is most always
compelled to look it up. I don't have much occasion to use it, so this does
happen only occasionally. The word is recondite.
