Executive Director Position

Position Announcement



Central Iowa Center for Independent Living ("CICIL") is a community-based,
non-profit, non-residential program, located in Des Moines, Iowa, that
serves people with disabilities in Polk, Dallas, Madison, Warren, Boone,
Story, and Newton counties. CICIL's purpose is to promote, through services
and advocacy, a community where all individuals can participate fully,
unencumbered by physical or attitudinal barriers.



CICIL's Executive Director is responsible for CICIL's overall operations,
including staffing, planning, developing, budgeting, implementing and
evaluating CICIL's programs, advocacy, and systems change activities.
CICIL's Executive Director is expected to work closely with CICIL's Board of
Directors to accomplish CICIL's purpose and satisfy the Executive Director's
responsibilities.



CICIL seeks a highly motivated individual with management experience in the
nonprofit or public sector and a demonstrated understanding of the
Independent Living philosophy.





Qualifications



Required Qualifications

. Personal experience with disability. Individuals with disabilities
are strongly encouraged to apply

. Bachelor's degree or greater, preferably in a field related to
disability or management

. Ability to regularly attend CICIL's board meetings; ability to
regularly attend CICIL's events and programs; ability to travel statewide
for occasional meetings.

. A minimum of three (3) years of management experience in
organizations related to disability support and services or advocacy issues.
Advanced or professional degree may substitute for one (1) year of
experience

. Demonstrated leadership in, and knowledge of, the Independent Living
Movement and Disability Rights, programming for consumers, and representing
diverse cultures



Desired Qualifications

. Experience developing and maintaining a diverse workforce

. Experience developing and/or overseeing agency or program budgets

. Experience managing State, Federal, or other grant funding

. Experience working with/serving on boards of directors

. Experience raising funds for non-profit organizations

. Ability to work under pressure, with deadlines, and handle multiple
projects at once



Start Date: September, 2015



Deadline for Applications: July 31, 2015. The position will remain open
until filled.



Compensation: Salary Range of $45,000 to $55,000 depending on the
candidate's experience and education.



Benefits Package: Paid vacation and sick leave, 11 paid holidays, 401K
retirement plan
