I know I know, one more pesky email to delete.
But Richard D. Wolff presents some thought provoking stuff, so I
thought I'd share this email.

** Gender pay gap calculator
(http://www.epi.org/multimedia/gender-pay-gap-calculator/?vhp_flush_all=1&_wpnonce=c84c826585&mc_cid=11e67b3cc4&mc_eid=[UNIQID])
------------------------------------------------------------

EPI’s new interactive gender pay gap calculator
(http://www.epi.org/paygapcalc?mc_cid=11e67b3cc4&mc_eid=[UNIQID]) calculates
how much you could be earning—when accounting for age, gender, and
education. Users of the calculator will see that the typical woman earns 83
cents for every dollar earned by her male counterpart and growing inequality
affects nearly everyone who works. The calculator shows that if the gender
wage gap had closed and the economy’s gains were more broadly shared,
women’s median hourly wages could be 69 percent higher today. EPI has
proposed solutions
(http://www.epi.org/blog/a-womens-economic-agenda-for-the-45th-u-s-president-investing-in-the-infrastructure-to-support-a-21st-century-economy/?mc_cid=11e67b3cc4&mc_eid=[UNIQID])
to closing both the gender wage gap and eliminating inequality, such as
allowing workers to organize, increasing wage transparency, and expanding
paid family leave.
WAGES

** Black workers’ median hourly wages could be 87 percent higher
(http://www.epi.org/publication/black-workers-wages-have-been-harmed-by-both-widening-racial-wage-gaps-and-the-widening-productivity-pay-gap/?mc_cid=11e67b3cc4&mc_eid=[UNIQID])
------------------------------------------------------------

In a new report
(http://www.epi.org/publication/black-workers-wages-have-been-harmed-by-both-widening-racial-wage-gaps-and-the-widening-productivity-pay-gap/?mc_cid=11e67b3cc4&mc_eid=[UNIQID])
, EPI’s Valerie Wilson explains that the economic inequality experienced by
African American workers is due to both a racial wage gap and the failure of
all workers’ wages to keep up with productivity. Wilson shows that by
addressing both class and racial inequality, African American workers’
median hourly wages would be 87 percent higher.
LABOR

** White House calls for action on non-compete clauses
(http://www.epi.org/blog/white-house-issues-call-to-action-on-non-compete-clauses/?mc_cid=11e67b3cc4&mc_eid=[UNIQID])
------------------------------------------------------------

The White House issued a call-to-action for states to reform non-compete
clauses, which hinder labor mobility for approximately 30 million—nearly one
in five—workers in the United States. EPI’s Ross Eisenbrey explains
(http://www.epi.org/blog/white-house-issues-call-to-action-on-non-compete-clauses/?mc_cid=11e67b3cc4&mc_eid=[UNIQID])
why this is a good first step and why efforts to improve labor mobility
should continue into the next administration.
