Understood, Carl. The doctors have had me on Januvia for some years to help
with my blood sugar. Recently, however, Kaiser Permanente has taken over from
Group Health, and their formulary is different and does not cover Januvia. I
usually get my medications from the Naval Hospital, so I don't usually have to
do copays for my medicines. But the Naval Hospital's formulary doesn't allow
them to carry Tradjenta, which is the medication roughly equivalent to Januvia.
However, I've learned that Tradjenta has no effect on my body's manufacture of
insulin, so I wasted a hundred fifty dollar copay at Costco as far as I'm
concerned.
Am going through a bad bout with asthma at the moment, one that started when my
son stayed overnight the first of May. He knows well I don't allow smoking in
my house as it sets off asthma attacks, but he not only smoked in the house but
left two cigarettes smoldering on wooden furniture, after which he went upstairs
to use the dedicated shower and left the water running and the shower doors open
for hours, doing several thousand dollars worth of water damage. Of course the
mold coming from that has done its share of damage to my asthma as well. And he
wonders why I won't allow him to stay the night again? I'd thought to get the
new inhaler with the corticoid steroids in it at Costco, but it was a fifty
dollar copay, so once I determined that it's carried by the Naval Hospital I was
off and running to northern Bremerton. It's cheaper to do that drive than to
pay the copay, plus I can make a visit to Barnes and Noble and to the Silverdale
Goodwill as well.
It was hot and sunny when I went out to shop for my client, but now it's
developing a thin cloud cover. We didn't get real rain yesterday outside
Sequim, but it did get rather misty, and the dogs came in soaking with mist and
dew yesterday morning.

I forgot that I was going to separate creative talents such as
authors, journalists, song writers, etc., from copyrights and patents
for the development of new drugs or equipment critical for people's
well being. Especially when we, the taxpayers, underwrite the cost of
such research and development, and then we are given a drug or device
so costly that neither we, nor our Health Care provider can afford it.
