Darnell Early, the Emergency Manager of Detroit Public Schools appointed by
Snyder is the same E.M. appointed by Snyderbehind the Flint Michigan water
catastrophe.
The issue is not race per se as Early is a black face. The issue is facsism. It
is the corporate state taking over everything here in Michigan.
There is no, and I repeat no democracy here abouts.
We, the "little people" don't even have a seat at the table let alone a "say
so".
The only thing transparent in Michigan is and, has been the naked power play by
the state under Snyder with disasterous consequences.

Subject: Detroit's toxic schools
Dear Michigan MoveOn member,
I'm Ivy Bailey of the Detroit Federation of Teachers of the American Federation
of Teachers, and I started a petition to Darnell Earley, Emergency Manager of
Detroit, and Governor Rick Snyder, which says:
Our children deserve a great public education that includes a safe and
welcoming environment for learning. Our educators deserve the respect and
support they need to do their jobs well, with manageable class sizes and time
to prepare to meet the needs of every student.
We demand real answers and fully funded schools.

For too long, Detroit students and educators have been learning and teaching in
deplorable conditions. From serious health and safety hazards such as mold,
asbestos and mice infestations, to classrooms with no heat, these unacceptable
conditions have been ignored. The floor of the gym at one school has buckled
from water damage and is covered in black mold.1 Teachers and support staff are
expected to teach in overcrowded classrooms without textbooks or support. In at
least one school, classrooms even have bullet holes in the walls.2
Join me in demanding fully funded schools in Detroit!
Educators in Detroit's public schools come to school every day despite these
disgusting conditions and do the best they can to give their students a great
education.
Enough is enough.
Students, parents, educators, and the Detroit community are demanding real
answers from Governor Snyder and Emergency Manager Earley. It's time to fully
fund Detroit's public schools. Our students deserve nothing less.
Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your
friends.
Thanks!
