Hi Miriam,
I agree with all of what you say regarding the big picture.
But, if I know that a given individual planned a horrible attack such as
those in Paris and Beirut, then I believe in taking them out. I guess that
makes me a vengeful sort.
In the long run, cutting ties with Saudi Arabia and Israel will eliminate
the attacks. But, in the short run, I'm not willing to abide these attacks
and do believe in going after anyone who is directly responsible. By the
way, I'd jump for joy if we decided to take out Netanyahu. In my heart I
know it's wrong, but I guess I just can't help myself.

Bob,

Over and over, when the "master minds", as you call them, are eliminated,
new ones arise. Al Qaeda and its off shoots were not eliminated when Bin
Ladin was murdered by the American military. If you want to stop the growth
of these groups, you need to change the conditions which cause their
formation. That means, you need to change the policies of the West toward
the Middle East. You have to stop supporting Saudi Arabia which is the
source of all the extremeist thought and action. You have to stop sending
military equipment which the militants can capture and use against everyone.
This idea that if we kill enough militant leaders, we'll solve the problem
is insane because over and over again, we've done it and it doesn't work.

Hi all,
Good points here and there is no doubt that if we want to put an end to
these attacks, the US and the rest of the west will have to drastically
change our ways.
Still I do support things like going after the mastermind of these attacks.
