I'm sure everyone on this list has seen or heard this violent news.
Five police officers murdered and six wounded, along with two
civilians. While we naturally focus our attention on the dead and
wounded officers and their grieving family and friends, we need to
also keep in mind that the real target of this insane attack was not
the police, but the Peaceful Demonstration. What happened in Dallas
is an age old tactic by hate mongers. Nothing works more effectively
to arouse anger and bring to the surface long smoldering hatred, than
a vicious killing.
How many people, awakening to this senseless murder will be filled
with a surge of hot anger? How many people, already unsupportive of
Black Pride, will shout out for revenge? That is the purpose of such
violent attacks. And looking at the remarks of this fool, this former
congressman, it appears that the tactic still works.
How much further down this broad road to Hell must we travel before
coming to the realization that Violence only begets Violence?
Gun control? If it were only so simple. Gun control will not stop
the crazy and violent murders such as those occurring with more and
more frequency. What are we doing about Anger Control? What are we
teaching our little children, with their hate and violence games?
What are we reinforcing when we sit in the stands or in our easy
chair, sucking down our beer and screaming violence at the opposing
team? What good are our schools and our churches and our courts when
they "turn the other cheek" and refuse to take on the nasty side of
human nature? If we don't bring our violent nature out of the
basement closet and haul it into the bright sunlight, and disassemble
it and replace it with a new Human Nature of Peace, togetherness,
respect and brotherly(sisterly) love, then we are doomed.
