Just wanted to mention that Chris Hedges is on the second half of on this
week's episode of Economic Update. He's talking about his latest book,
America: A Farewell Tour, which is on Bookshare. It's interesting that two
books of his are on BARD, but none of the succeeding books. That is also
true of Jeremy Scahill. His first book about Blackwater, is on BARD. But
Dirty Wars, is not. And Max Blumenthal's book written in, perhaps 2013,
Goliath: Love and Loathing In Israel, never made it to BARD at all. Well,
actually, The New York Times also ignored it. And it was an excellent,
informative book. Of course, his book, The 51 Day War, never got to BARD
either. These people have been wiped from the public consciousness so that
their written words will remain unknown to the general public. The fact that
Chris Hedges was a foreign bureau chief for the New York Times is immaterial
because after he made that speech at a college in 2003 denouncing the Iraq
War, he became a pariah. Buck the Washington consensus, the you become
invisible. This morning, as I listened to NPR headlines and its explanation
of the world to its audience, the shock of how different the reality that is
presented to the majority of people, even those who consider themselves to
be educated and knowledgeable to the opposing facts and information and
interpretations that are less available, was again brought home to me. NPR
repeated, what I believe to be, a huge amount of misinformation about
Nicaragua, given what I've learned from Max Blumenthal's first hand
reporting from that country, as well as other reports which I've heard on
Flashpoints and Loud and Clear. Blumenthal had material on The Real News
Network and articles on his website, The Grayzone Project. And now there are
efforts to ban these people from social media. Will their websites and
podcasts be next?
