Well, I have always felt frustrated when I couldn't hear the remainder of those
interviews so this is a real gift.
And now for my pessimistic side. There are a lot of people talking and writing
about fighting back and silver linings and the heartening response of the
demonstrations at airports, the increased donations to the ACLU, the support of
Lift as opposed to Uber, etc. And I do support all of that and I'm proud of
everyone who is able and willing to participate in all those actions. However,
the horrors continue to happen. That pipeline under the river which will
certainly leak at some point, as all the others have, and will pollute the
water of millions. The immigration raids and deportations are happening and
increasing. There are thousands of people whose ability to enter the US was
stopped. Trump continues to blatantly break the law with impunity. Every one of
his appointees, people who have vowed to destroy the agencies to whose
directorship they were appointed, have been approved by the congress. The White
Nationalist have become openly active, and their influence is obvious in all of
the new attacks on mosques, on black people, the threats to Jewish houses of
worship. Fox News plays directly to Trump supporters while CNN and, even the
NYT, are cautious in how clearly and precisely they report the truth. And the
deluded Left now sees the war crimes which Obama committed and which they
overlooked, as suddenly unspeakable because Trump is President. But no one,
except Jeremy Scahill and Code Pink, have seen what this country has been doing
in Yemen for eight years, as unconscienable And as that Black Agenda article
which I posted yesterday pointed out, Obama and Booker have been championing
charter schools, owned by hedge funds, for years, along with the high stakes
testing and destruction of teachers' unions. Betsy De Vos is just a more
extreme version. The people who are fighting back are the ones directly
affected by all of this and some of their allies, but they are powerless. Yes,
there may be millions, but we're living in a corporate, autocratic state,
moving toward overt fascism. They can peacefully object, and if they are
persistent enough, they'll be slaughtered.

Miriam,
Good going! I wish I had the time to track down those "second interviews".
But Time is not always my friend, and I only kid myself when I think I'm going
to listen to the rest of the interview. But by the same token, it's like the
stuff I write, repetition. We are all saying the same things over and over.
What we need is a "Revelation", a new and highly effective means of making
people aware and ready to take up the banner and get our Ship back on course.

Today is the first time I've ever heard the second half of interviews,
you know the half that Amy says they'll do after the show and post
online? I've never been able to find them online. But this afternoon,
I turned on the VR Stream to listen to Counterspin, which is the FAIR
podcast, and discovered
2
new episodes on Democracy now which was very strange since I heard
today's program this morning. IT turns out that they were the
continuations of the interviews she'd done with Coretta Scott King's
friend, and the reporters covering white nationalist terrorist
attacks. I knew I must have paid $319 for something!
