Cuba and Chernobyl
The documentary Cuba and Chernobyl (“Chernóbil en nosotros”) was
produced in Cuba and broadcast on national television in 2006. It tells
the story of the Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe in Ukraine and Cuba’s
exemplary internationalist medical program that treated more than 25,000
Ukrainian, Bylorussian and Russian victims at the Pediatric Hospital in
Tarará, on the outskirts of Havana.
A team of volunteers organized by the Militant translated the original
Spanish sound track, prepared subtitles and embedded them in the video.
The documentary, with Spanish audio and English subtitles, can be seen
